Crunching.
Feb. 25th, 2003 02:53 pmThree weeks ago, when you walked across our front lawn, you would have noticed the extreme crunchiness underfoot. The grass, although short, was so very dry that it cracked and crackled as one stepped on it.
For three of the last four days we have had heavy, steady rain. For the last two days, if you walked across our front lawn, you would have noticed the extreme crunchiness underfoot.
But this was the crunching of the snail shells as the gastropods came out in the rain.
I hate snails. I detest them.
I have had double joy in every crunchy step.

Plus/minus
Date: 2003-02-24 10:39 pm (UTC)On the minus side: It's rain. Things already burned will now tend to slide downhill in a rush of mud...
You can't have everything. But squishing snails sounds like a little bit of fun. Sounds like you have snails like we have nightcrawlers (worms). Everytime it rains, my driveway is covered with the slimy things. Last time, the cat (great huntress that she is) poudly brought us a mouthful. Into the house. On the kitchen floor. ("Mom! Dad! Look what I caught! I'm gonna go get more, these things are everywhere!")
Eeewwww...

Date: 2003-02-25 06:43 am (UTC)All I can say is, I'm glad the resident feline is too regal to catch slugs. Then again, perhaps slugs don't move enough to be really interesting to a cat.
(I almost wish she would catch them, they've eaten most of the mint. Which is itself not a bad thing, given the less vigorous plants they could be eating... Slugs with Minty Fresh Breath. Do slugs even HAVE breath? I don't think they breathe....)

thinks
Now, perhaps if that snow were really the powedered skulls of children who verbally insult teachers .... ah. I think I shall enjoy walking into work tomorrow.
Thanks, rey.
