At my new job at Optus ("Cable Helpdesk Technician"), I will be judged as "competent" if I can

1) Answer the phone in a polite manner

2) Elicit from the client their exact problem

3) Achieve a result that meets both the customers' and the company's expectations

and this is the one I find amusing.

4) Finish the call with the customer all happy and fluffy.


Somehow I don't think I'll have much trouble with the last requirement.

In order to judge somebody 'competent', they have to be able to quantify and produce evidence of the competence.
I'm curious as to how one quantifies a suffient degree of 'fluffiness' and what constitutes evidence of this *grin*
