Things I have learned the last few days.

1) An empty house rattles and groans in ways you never hear when you're surrounded by family.

2) Don't go and see cutesy love stories when you're missing your husband. The unhappy endings will make you down and the happy endings make you feel how much you miss your man.

3) Although fireworks and alcohol are nice, the loveliest part of New Year's Eve can be the drummer and dancers you joined in the park whilst waiting for a bus.

and can you please give lederhosen a hug for me, and apologise for not spending more time with him. You see, I was feeling somewhat uncomfortable - and ironically, derived some strength from the knowledge that he too, was in my boat. I didn't realise quite how right that sentiment was, and I'm sorry now that we left when we did, as we might have been able to help.
